BEING BLACK IN TORONTO<\/strong>, part of Fabienne Colas Foundation&#8217;s <strong>BEING BLACK IN CANADA<\/strong> Program\u00a0\u2013\u00a0presented by\u00a0<strong>Netflix<\/strong>, in collaboration with\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>National Bank<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0supported\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>Telefilm Canada,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Canada Media Fund\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the<strong>\u00a0Canada Council for the Arts<\/strong> &#8211; is nominated for <strong>BEST DIRECTION IN A DOCUMENTARY SERIES<\/strong> at the Canadian Screen Awards (CSA). BEING BLACK IN TORONTO aired on CBC and is still available for streaming on <a href=\"https:\/\/gem.cbc.ca\/media\/absolutely-canadian\/season-20\/episode-18\/38e815a-013ac5d2768\">CBC GEM<\/a>. The CSA will be taking place May 17- 21, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> BEING BLACK IN TORONTO<\/strong> emerging filmmakers addressed the issue of social integration of people from Black communities in their city through film. The program\u2019s eligibility criteria and application form are available <a href=\"https:\/\/beingblackincanada.com\/call-applications-fabienne-colas-foundations-black-canada-presented-netflix-collaboration-national-bank-montreal-toronto-halifax-calgary-vancouver-ottawa\/\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>. Candidates have until <strong>April 7, 2021 <\/strong>to apply and only those selected will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Fabienne Colas Foundation\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.BeingBlackInCanada.com\"><strong>BEING BLACK IN CANADA<\/strong><\/a> <strong>represents\u202fCanada\u2019s largest incubator dedicated to Black Filmmakers, and creation program to be entirely dedicated to Black filmmakers<\/strong>.\u202fAs part of the\u00a0Fabienne Colas Foundation\u2019s\u00a0Youth and Diversity Initiative,\u00a0the FCF\u2019s\u00a0Being Black in Canada\u00a0program\u00a0was created\u00a0to make up for the blatant lack of diversity and the lack of Black People in front and behind the camera in Canada.\u00a0Founded\u00a0in 2012, with the first cohort launched in 2014,\u00a0the Program\u00a0gives a voice and a platform to creators who would not otherwise be seen or heard.
