The eyes represent those of the filmmakers, but also those of the public. In the end, all of the perspectives come together to form a single point of view: that of the festival, whose goal is to give a modern vision of Black cinema.” – Jamel Ben mahammed Jamel Ben mahammed studied Applied Arts at L’école Estienne (ESAIG) in France. The mission of the Montreal International Black Film Festival is to stimulate the development of the independent film industry and to encourage more films on the realities of Blacks from around the world. The Festival wants to promote a different kind of cinema, cinema that hails from here and from abroad and that does not necessarily have the opportunity to grace the big screen, groundbreaking cinema that moves us, that raises awareness and that takes us all by surprise. The MIBFF wants to deal with issues and present works that raise questions, that provoke, that make us smile, that leave us perplexed, that shock us… A fresh new look at black cinema from the four corners of the globe! www.montrealblackfilm.com .

FIN

Montreal International Black Film Festival

From September 20 to 30, 2012

www.montrealblackfilm.com

Contact: Emile Castonguay / MIBFF Programming Director / emile@montrealblackfilm.com

2012 MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL BLACK FILM FESTIVAL POSTER September 20 to 30, 2012 – www.montrealblackfilm.com Montreal, July 25, 2012 – Jamal Ben mahammed’s poster, representing the 8th Montreal International Black Film Festival, has been chosen as the winner of a competition open to graphic designers and illustrators from all over the world.
