The awards will be presented during Canadian Screen Week, April 4-10.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is the third nomination for a FCF\u2019s <strong>BEING BLACK IN CANADA<\/strong> cohort. Last year, the <strong>BEING BLACK IN TORONTO<\/strong> filmmakers brought home the award for Best Direction in a Documentary Series\u00a0at the\u00a02021 Canadian Screen Awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>BEING BLACK IN HALIFAX<\/strong>\u00a0emerging filmmakers addressed the issue of social integration of people from Black communities in their city through film. The program\u2019s eligibility criteria and application form are available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beingblackincanada.com\/call-applications-fabienne-colas-foundations-black-canada-presented-netflix-collaboration-national-bank-montreal-toronto-halifax-ottawa-calgary-vancouver\/\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>. Candidates have until\u00a0<strong>March 6, 2022 <\/strong>to apply and only those selected will be contacted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.BeingBlackInCanada.com\">Fabienne Colas Foundation\u2019s\u00a0<strong>BEING BLACK IN CANADA<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><strong>represents\u202fCanada\u2019s largest incubator dedicated to Black Filmmakers, and creation program to be entirely dedicated to Black filmmakers<\/strong>. Presented by Netflix in collaboration with the National Bank,\u00a0the FCF\u2019s\u00a0Being Black in Canada\u00a0program\u00a0was created\u00a0to make up for the blatant lack of diversity and the lack of Black People in front and behind the camera in Canada.\u00a0Founded\u00a0in 2012, with the first cohort launched in 2014,\u00a0the Program\u00a0gives a voice and a platform to creators who would not otherwise be seen or heard.
