This is the first fiction film for Lojkine who is known for his Vietnam-centric documentaries <em><strong>Ceux qui restent<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Les Ames errantes<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very proud to open the festival with such a moving film. This is a touching and powerful story about humanity, love and exile. A deeply moving film!&#8221; stated <strong>Fabienne Colas<\/strong>, President and Founder of the festival.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hope<\/strong> portrays of the reality of the tragic conditions of the exile of Africans travelling through the Sahara to reach Europe. Deep in the desert, on his way to Europe, L\u00e9onard, a young man from Cameroon, rescues Hope, a Nigerian woman. In a fiercely hostile world where you have to stay with your own people to stay safe, these two try to find their way and love each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe power of <strong>Hope<\/strong> lies in its unflinching portrayal of the reality of the tragic conditions of the exile of Africans travelling through the Sahara to reach Europe. The film tells this story through an incredible tale of love, which allows this oft ignored situation to reach us. \u2018<em>As long as there is another person,<\/em>\u2019 wrote Serge Daney, \u2018<em>there is hope for filming.<\/em>\u2019 Hope is the story of this hope.\u201d &#8211; <strong>Charles Tesson, Semaine de la Critique, Cannes Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The 10th <strong>Montreal International Black Film Festival<\/strong>, created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, will be held from <strong>September 23 to 28, 2014<\/strong> and is presented by <strong>Global Montreal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>ABOUT THE MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL BLACK FILM FESTIVAL \u2013 MIBFF<\/h3>\n<p>The Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF) was created in 2005 by the <strong>Fabienne Colas Foundation<\/strong>, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cinema, art and culture.
