Montreal – Wednesday, September 3, 2014<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 The Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF), created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation<\/strong> and presented by Global Montreal,<\/strong> is proud to close its 10th<\/sup> edition with the Quebec Premiere of Biyi Bandele\u2019s Half of Yellow Sun,<\/strong> on Sunday, September 28, 7PM at Grande Biblioth\u00e8que <\/strong>(475 Bld. De Maisonneuve Est, Montr\u00e9al). Half of Yellow Sun<\/strong> premiered in the Special Presentation section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. “Closing this 10th<\/sup> edition of the MIBFF with such a powerful piece that unveils a slice of Nigeria\u2019s History is a privilege. We are thrilled to have the Quebec Premiere at the Festival in collaboration with TVA Films” stated Emile Castonguay<\/strong>, Co-founder and programming director of the festival.<\/p>\n

Sisters Olanna and Kainene return home to 1960s Nigeria, where they take different paths. As civil war breaks out, political events loom larger than their differences as they join the fight to establish an independent republic.<\/p>\n

A prolific Nigerian playwright, novelist and screenwriter now based in London, HALF OF A YELLOW SUN is Biyi Bandele<\/strong>\u2019s feature film directorial debut. This first feature follows his distinguished career writing and directing plays for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court, and writing screenplays for the BBC and British and international film productions.<\/p>\n

The 10th\u00a0Montreal International Black Film Festival, <\/strong>created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation<\/strong>, will be held from September 23 to 28, 2014<\/strong> and is presented by Global Montreal. <\/strong><\/p>\n
