Montreal, March 18, 2014 – The 10th Montreal International Black Film Festival will run from September 23rd to 28th, 2014 in Montreal: 6 days of sharing, interculturalism and entertainment during which we will be presenting the best and the most amazing new films in the world of Black cinema. A fresh, new look at black cinema from the four corners of the globe.

Last year’s edition of the Festival screened about 100 films from 35 countries and paid tribute to legendary actor, producer and activist Danny Glover as well as Academy-Award nominated director Kim Nguyen.

Registration is already open for films of any genre and any length: feature, medium-length and short films (fiction, documentary, animation…). The registration form, pre-selection conditions, and rules & regulations are available on the Festival’s Website at www.montrealblackfilm.com until the June 15, 2014.

The jury responsible for selecting the winners will include people of many different nationalities, none of whom are involved in the organization of the Festival.

Created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Cinema, Art and Culture both nationally and internationally, the Montreal International Black Film Festival promotes independent authors’ films and seeks to inspire people from all walks of life. It encourages quality independent cinema and provides an opportunity for industry professionals from here and abroad to meet. The goal of the festival is also to continue to diversify the cultural and cinematographic offering in Quebec and Canada!

The MIBFF raises public awareness. It gives Black people the opportunity to reconnect with their culture and others, a chance to discover a dynamic and emerging cinema. A blooming cinema that does not necessarily have the opportunity to grace the big screen, groundbreaking cinema that moves us, that raises awareness and that takes us all by surprise.

Several thousand movie-goers are expected to turn out for this 10th edition, which is under preparation and promises to offer an even richer and more varied program than last year. Make it a date not to be missed!
