SI BONDYE VLE, YULI (Si Dieu veut, Yuli)
By Jean Jean
Yuli’s life, a Haitian woman who has lived in the Dominican Republic for more than 35 years, has been an ongoing struggle to raise her children with dignity, despite her precarious immigration status. The child who caused Yuli to cross the border in the early 1980s is back and discovers that his mother, after all this time, is still trying to fix her situation because of the regularization plan that the Dominican government has launched… But what makes us really belong to a place? How are the links between the land and its inhabitants established?
