The 9th edition of the Montreal International Black Film Festival, presented by Global Montreal in collaboration with Zupim.com, will close on a happy note on September 29, 2013, at 7pm at Imperial Theater. Director Lionel Bailliu will make a special appearance for the Canadian premiere of his film DENIS, a French comedy starring Fabrice Éboué, Jean-Paul Rouve, Audrey Dana and Sara Gireaudeau.
“It’s refreshing to close the MIBFF with an unpretentious comedy starring French comedian Fabrice Éboué (Case Départ), a festival regular. This film reminds us that the MIBFF can also be a laid-back and entertaining event where you can have a good laugh. We can’t get enough of Denis,” stated Emile Castonguay, MIBFF Co-founder and Programming Director.
Denis is a hilarious romantic comedy with an extraordinary premise. Vincent thought he met the love of his life… twice. But both times, his girlfriends dumped him for the same guy, Denis. Now that Vincent is happily in love with Anna, his only fear is that Denis will steal her away. Vincent goes on a quest to understand how women keep falling for a tacky-shirt-wearing loudmouth who teaches wrestling as though it were philosophy.
Lionel Bailliu is mainly known for the television series Elodie Bradford, which he wrote and created. He made his directorial debut with the award-winning short, Squash. He then went on to direct Fair Play in 2006 with Marion Cotillard and the made-for-TV movie, Meurtres, in Saint-Malo.
The 9th Montreal International Black Film Festival, created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, will be held from September 18 to 29, 2013 and is presented by Global Montreal in collaboration with Zupim.com.
